Clinton undefeated heading into final regular season football game

Unless Britton Deerfield’s varsity football team (2-6 overall, 0-6 TCC) can make something magical happen in the final game of the regular season on Friday, Clinton’s varsity football team is looking to head into post-season play carrying an undefeated 9-0 record.The Redskins defeated the Sand Creek Aggies 54-0 in a Tri-County Conference (TCC) contest on Friday, Oct. 16, and a win over the Patriots would give Clinton a perfect 7-0 record to close out conference action. The victory over the Aggies guarantees Clinton at least a share of the TCC championship. Clinton rushed for 439-yards while limiting Sand Creek to just 31. The Redskins put up 20 points in the first quarter and 21 in the second for a whopping 41-0 lead at the end of the first half.Leading the way offensively for Clinton was Mathew Sexton with a pair of touchdowns on 168-yards rushing and a 14-yard pass reception. Adding yardage for Clinton were: Collin Poore (131-yards rushing, one touchdown, one 12-yard reception); Noah Poore (38-yards rushing, two touchdowns, one 20-yard reception); Jared Sackett (42 yards rushing, one touchdown, two receptions for 23 yards); Ethan Barrett (43 yards rushing); Brad Gilbert (14 yards rushing, one touchdown); Ryan Karapas (completed 6-of-6 passes for 74 yards, one touchdown), Blake Rogers (five-yard pass reception); and Kaden Kelly (pass reception). Defensively, the Redskins held the Aggies to 46 yards of total offense with tackles by Sexton (12), Noah Poore (7), Seth Sylvester (6), Nienow (4, 2 sacks), Karapas (2), Collin Poore (3), Noah Saren (3), Rogers (3), Barrett (3), Gilbert (2), Vaughn (2), Chantelois (2), Popp (2), Alex McInstosh (2), Aaron Fowler (2) and Noah Fowler (2). Clinton’s Offensive player of the week is Fowler while defensive honors went to Nienow. The Red Army player of the game was McIntosh while Sackett was named special teams player of the week.Clinton’s junior varsity team beat Sand Creek 34-20 on Thursday, Oct. 16, and improved to 6-1-1 overall.
