Clinton picks up sixth win at Madison

CLINTON — Win number six was recorded by Clinton’s varsity football team at Madison on Friday, Oct. 20.
Clinton beat the Trojans 55-12 and secured a spot in the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 7 state playoffs. Clinton (6-3, 49.889 points) plays next at Hudson (8-1, 83.333 points) on Friday.
Scoring for Clinton was Eathan Hicks (3-yard run), Robbie Campbell (40-yard reception), Michael Sprau (12-yard run), Clay Langer (46-yard run, 28-yard pass, 37-yard pass), Trevor Underwood (45-yard run), Dylan Settles (45-yard run) and placekicker Anton Ellerman (converted seven extra-point kicks). Langer led Clinton’s rushing game with 110 yards on eight carries. Underwood (2-48), Sprau (5-39), Clark Nelson (1-6), Hicks (3-14), Noah Comar (2-46), Christian Minard (3-14), Settles (1-45), Jack Voll (1-8), AJ Baxter (1-2), David Campbell (1-2), Brayden Randolph (2-8), Creed Ahrens (1-9), Logan Austin (1-2) and Ian Root (1-2) added rushing yardage. 
Nelson completed 3-of-4 passes for 100 yards. Campbell (1-40) and Langer (2-60) had the receptions. 
Defensively, Branscum led Clinton in tackles with six while Langer and Settles had five each. Sprau (interception), Hicks, Comar, Riley Jeffrey, Christian Korte, Shaun Phifer, Ahrens, Sexton (fumble recovery), Jeff Konz and Randolph added three tackles each. 
Clinton’s Offensive Player of the Game was Langer while defensive honors went to Branscum. Special Teams Player of the Game was Ellerman. Ahrens was named Red Army Player of the Week. 
Clinton improved to 5-2 in the Tri-County Conference with the win.
