Claude Bowen

Claude Bowen, age 95, of Tecumseh, died peacefully on January 31, 2017 at Cambrian Assisted Living under Great Lakes Hospice. He was born on Nov. 9, 1921 in Knott County, Ky., the son of the late Lawrence and Flora (Adams) Bowen. He married Edith Mae Miller on May 18, 1950 in Redfox, Ky., and she preceded him in death in 2013.      

Claude proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a former foreman for the Cadillac Plant in Detroit for 29 years. He was a member of the Clinton Baptist Church. He loved going fishing in Florida where Edith and Claude wintered for the 33 years in Kissimmee. He enjoyed traveling and wanted to see all 50 states. He was also a certified barber. He touched many lives during his 95 years and will be fondly remembered by those who loved him.

Claude is survived by one son, Joseph (Sophie) Bowen of Northville; two daughters, Linda Bowen of Novi and Diana (James) Falletich of Grosse Pointe Shores; four grandchildren, Lisa, Eric (Vanessa), Keli and Caitlin; great-granddaughter, Scarlett; his brother, Burl (Anita) Bowen; his sisters; Christine Bowen, Mima Sue Whelan, and a sister-in-law, Anna Jo Bowen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Edith, and his brother, Eugene Bowen.

Visitation for Claude will be held on Friday, Feb. 3, 2017 at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes from 2-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017 at the Clinton Baptist Church at 1 p.m. with Pastor Jon Turner and Rev. Bob Riddle officiating. Visitation from 12 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial to follow at Brookside Cemetery. 

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
