City sponsoring drive to collect cases of bottled water to aid Flint

The City of Tecumseh is collecting bottled water donations from January 29 through February 8 to aid Flint residents. Cases of bottled water can be dropped off at the Tecumseh Fire Department at 101 E. Russell Road from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The city asks that donations be full cases of commercially packaged water (no loose bottles), or commercially sealed gallon containers of water, all with an expiration date of at least July 31, 2016. Canned water, containers with open or broken seals, flavored water or water past its expiration date will not be accepted.

Tecumseh is making arrangements to deliver the water to Flint to be distributed to residents during their time of need. More information on the drive can be found by calling 424.6003.

In addition, the city will place donation jugs at Tecumseh businesses for monetary donations, which will be used to purchase water for Flint.
