Carmen Carpenter

Carmen Vicky (Waters) Carpenter, age 59, passed away at Hospice of Lenawee, surrounded by her family and friends. She was born to the late Cledith and Teresa (Dillon) Waters on June 8, 1957 in Hamtramck, Mich. Loving wife of Gary Carpenter for 35 years before his death in 2016.

Carmen attended Grace Bible Church of Tecumseh and served our county in the National Guard. She was employed by Hospice of Lenawee as an aide until her recent illness. She was on several bowling leagues, loved crafting, antiquing, sewing and enjoyed making jewelry. She also enjoyed hunting, four wheeling up north with her family and camping.

Carmen will be deeply missed and her light will continue to shine in our hearts.

Carmen is survived by her son, Derek W. Carpenter of Tecumseh; brothers, Greg (Jan) Duffield of New Mexico, Michael (Lisa) Waters of Tecumseh, Marcus Waters of Clinton, Chad (Pam) Waters of Georgia, and sister, Cammie (David) Wolford of Clinton, Mich., as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gary Carpenter, brother-in-law, Daniel Carpenter, and sister-in-law, Christina Waters.

Visitation for Carmen will be held on Friday, March 31, 2017 at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Grace Bible Church in Tecumseh at 11 a.m. with visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery under the auspices of Tecumseh Legion Post No. 34 and Tecumseh VFW Post No. 4187.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Carmen’s memory to Hospice of Lenawee.
