Bruce Thomas Murphy

Bruce Thomas Murphy, age 81, of Tecumseh, dearly loved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on June 2, 2017, with his family by his side, under the care of Hospice of Lenawee. He was born on January 1, 1936, the son of the late Charles and Theresa Murphy in Dearborn, Mich. He married Priscilla Nan Hillson on September 17, 1960 in Detroit, Mich., and they shared 56 years until her death in 2016.

Bruce was a retired steam engineer from Ford Motor Co. after 33 years. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He will be remembered for his love of bowling, gardening, fishing, hunting, farming as a hobby, and travelling with Priscilla.

Bruce leaves behind to cherish his memory, his daughters, Terrilyn (Jeffrey) Waterbury and Theresa (Michael) Watkins, both of Tecumseh; grandchildren, Daniel (Carly) Waterbury, Sarah (Kyle) Erskine, Megan Watkins, Katelyn Waterbury and Kelly Watkins; great-grandchild, Piper Waterbury; his siblings, Patrick (Cathy) Murphy of Chandler, Ariz., and Ann Murray of Livonia, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Priscilla, and his sisters, Ellen Roberts, Sarah and Margaret Murphy.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, June 5, 2017, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Daniel Wheeler as celebrant. Burial was at Brookside Cemetery with military honors under the auspices of American Legion Post No. 34 and VFW Post No. 4187.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lenawee or Knights of Columbus No. 9937.
