Brenda Gail Walters

Brenda Gail Walters, age 75 of Tecumseh, passed away on Jan. 24, 2015, at MagnumCare of Adrian, under the loving care of Hospice of Lenawee. She was born on November 23, 1939, in Goshen, Ind., the daughter of Albert and Lucile (Whaling) Overholt. On June 21, 1964, she married Edwin F. Walters and they celebrated 45 years together before his passing on December 29, 2009.Brenda was a member of the Tecumseh United Methodist Church and was very active with her church family, was a past director of the TUMC Bell Choir and a Questor of the United Methodist’s Women. Brenda had a heart of gold and loved to volunteer, including the many years that she spent with her husband in the Tecumseh Kiwanis Club and was the Kiwanis’ First Lady for the Michigan District from 1986-87. She was also a member of the Tecumseh Historical Society, past president of Chapter AJ of PEO, and participated in the Tecumseh Promenade. Brenda was gifted with musical talent and shared her knowledge as a music teacher in Southgate and Sand Creek and as a member of the Tecumseh Pops Orchestra. In her spare time, Brenda enjoyed traveling the world, including Europe and Eastern Asia, clogging and playing cards. Her greatest joy was the time that she got to spend with her family and grandchildren and will be greatly missed.Brenda is survived by her daughter Debra (William) Snook of Brooklyn and their children Morgan and Collin Snook. Brenda was preceded in death by her Husband, Edwin, a step-brother and two step-sisters. Visitation for Brenda will be held on Friday, Jan. 30, 2015, from 5-8 p.m. at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Tecumseh United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Miller officiating. The family will also receive friends at the Church on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place at a later date at Violett Cemetery in Goshen, Ind. Memorial contributions may be made in Brenda’s honor to the Tecumseh United Methodist Church’s Music Fund or the Chapter AJ of PEO.
