BD falls to Whiteford

BRITTON — Britton Deerfield’s varsity football team ended its season with a 51-0 loss at Whiteford on Friday, Oct. 20.
The Patriots finished 1-8 overall and 1-6 in the Tri-County Conference with the loss, defeating only Madison (22-13) during the regular season. The Patriots haven’t advanced into the playoffs since 2013.
Whiteford remained undefeated and improved to 9-0 with the Tri-County Conference victory.
The Patriots scored 101 points during the season and had 332 points scored against them.
Shane Meinert led BD’s offense with five touchdowns and two two-point conversions for 34 points. Jacob Burk scored three touchdowns for BD and added a two-point conversion for 20 points.
Both Spencer Hoffman and Gaige Suydam scored two touchdowns each while Dylan Boone (1 conversion) and Zac Clark added one touchdown each. Brock Corley had a two-point conversion while Ben Spoering connected on seven point after touchdown kicks.
Hoffman completed 64 of 137 passes for 739 yards and four touchdowns and had nine passes intercepted.
Burk led BD’s rushing game with 98 carries for 433 yards and three touchdowns.
Gavin Cousino led BD’s defense with 71 tackles while Jacob Burk had 70.
