Appleumpkin Festival on tap for weekend

TECUMSEH — Downtown Tecumseh streets will be busy on Saturday and Sunday as the city hosts the 22nd Annual Appleumpkin Festival. Hours for the festival are Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.The family-friendly event has activities for all ages. There are midway rides, carnival games, inflatables, make-it-take-it crafts, a straw maze and a corn box for children of all ages.The Antique Street Fair and Flea Market as well as the Arts and Crafts show offered many unique items for shoppers. People in need of a scarecrow can make one for free in the Make-It-Take-It Scarecrow Tent.The Antique Tractor Show on South Evans Street and a haunted house at the Tecumseh Public School Administration Building at the corner of North Ottawa and Shawnee Streets are Saturday activities only.Live music will be downtown on three different stages. Mac’s Traxx’s Stage on South Evans Street features Skoobie Snaks, Las Hombres Villegas and The Rooster House on Saturday with Gary Perrine, Tony Marchese and Billy Joe Hunt performing on Sunday. Gary Perrine is the Saturday performance for The Depot Stage at the corner of Ottawa Street and West Chicago Boulevard with Perrine returning on Sunday followed by performances from Tony Marchese and Billy Joe Hunt.The Shuttle Stage at the corner of Pearl Street and West Chicago Boulevard has music on the hour. Saturday performers include Frank Allison, Lisa Eddy and Anthony Emery, Spencer Michaud, K. Michael Joseph, Ted Montei, J. Washburn Gardner, Mike Gentry and Shannon Lee. Dan Hacker, Dale Chadderdon, Brian Kingsley, Kristina Johnsen, Ed Scruggs, and Dave Solo and Ellie bring music to the Shuttle Stage on Sunday.The stage on the lawn of Tecumseh District Library on Ottawa Street has Saturday performances by No Prospects, Gramberry Jam, Victor McDermott and New American Standards, Sunday Morning Light, and The Dave Roof Trio. Taking to the Library Stage on Sunday are Smokey Grey, Joe Kidd and Sheila Burke, Eyes Unclouded, and Rose City Troubadours.There is free parking at Tecumseh High School with free shuttle rides to downtown events. The shuttle stop downtown is at the corner of South Pearl Street and Chicago Boulevard.A shuttle will also run to Kapnick Orchard for its Apple Festival.
