Alice Eleanor VanKoevering

Alice Eleanor VanKoevering died Memorial weekend (2018) at her home in Tecumseh, Mich. Born in 1961 in Syracuse, New York, Alice spent her childhood and youth in Saline, Mich., graduating from Saline High School in 1979.

For many years an avid distance runner, she was a familiar sight to townspeople as she worked along through her daily 13-mile route to ready herself for marathons. She had tremendous energy and determination.

Continuing her education, Alice also achieved many interests and goals: an AB in psychology from the University of Michigan, an elementary education teaching degree and certificate from Siena Heights University, and an R.N. degree from Jackson Community College. Additionally, for a number of years Alice worked from her home as an independent medical transcriptionist.

Spirited and lovely, loyal and generous, Alice befriended people and dogs wherever she lived. Those who wish to honor her memory may send donations to Lenawee County Humane Society at 705 W. Beecher St., Adrian, MI 49221. A private ceremony to celebrate her life will be held at a later date.
