‘No need to rush’ in decision to hire next city manager for Tecumseh

To the Editor,As you take up the task of hiring a new city manager proceed carefully. This may be the most important decision you make during your tenure. As you have had the privilege of working with Kevin Welch, you know first-hand the benefits of working with a seasoned professional as you face increasingly complicated municipal issues. There is no need to rush into this decision or limit your choices to internal candidates. In fact, doing so would be a great disservice to Tecumseh.Given the lofty and challenging goals you’ve set out for Tecumseh in your strategic plan, open the doors to all candidates and see who can best accomplish them. Please table your hiring process for now and take time to complete a job description and process that will allow you to hire the best candidate to manage our great city in this ever changing 21st century.Thank you for all you do for our city.Margaret GrossTecumseh
