As parents of two children in our local school district (one who is fully vaccinated and one who is not eligible for the vaccine), we are supporting the decisions made locally by our school district.

Speaking as a public health professional trained in research, and with consensus among experts in public health, we must acknowledge that the data are clear: masks help curb the spread of COVID-19.

How surprising to read the article from the parent advocacy groups in the same paper with the headline that COVID-19 transmission level is now “substantial.” (I believe it has since been upgraded to “high.”)

More than 100 parent advocacy groups across the State of Michigan reject mandates (local or national) that force or require children, preschool through college, to be masked, vaccinated, close contact quarantined or submit to asymptomatic COVID-19 testing in order to attend school or play sports.
